It’s night
and I drive on the highway

And I drive faster
as I try to silence my thoughts
by the noise of the engine
of my 23 years old car

I wonder,
did you once drive too
on this highway
And for a moment
I can see the road and my country
through your eyes
I smile

And all is fine
If I just keep driving
I could drive all night long
And dream in the comfort
of the heating in my car
And my eyes that follow
the white stripes on the road
As long as I don’t need to go home

The house will be cold
And dark and alone
Just a house made out of stone
Since you are not there
And with you I have my real home

When Christmas Came

Maybe Christmas came too early this year
And I wasn’t ready yet,
We weren’t ready
As it came but it didn’t bring us together

And then the darkness was dark
The sun seemed far away
And the waters were flowing

But maybe Christmas came to teach
To find the light even in darkness
And to be like a cat and always look for the sunny spots

Strong As Our Love

When I went outside
on Christmas day,
my heart heavy,
tears that kept running
and missing you like crazy,
I saw that the rosebush,
that had just lost her last roses
had new buds again

The rosebush, strong as our love
She braves the seasons
She stands her ground
And even when the rain rains her
roses from her branches,
Even when Winter and cold
come in,
She never gives up,
She continues to blossom,
to gift her beautiful roses
and to lighten hearts

She Tries To Leave Christmas

It doesn’t snow
but it rains teardrops
And she runs and runs
As she tries to leave Christmas
but Christmas doesn’t seem
to let her go

There are decorations and
Christmas lights
everywhere
Christmas songs and music
She tries to cover her eyes
and to cover her ears
She tries to cover her heart
as it is aching from inside
And the fire of longing burns her

She runs into the woods to hide
And she sinks to the ground
Under the cold starry night sky
There her beloved, her fairy man finds her
He takes her in his arms and kisses her
He says that all is fine, all is well
No more tears, no need to worry
And wishes her a true Merry Christmas

Christmas feels so big

Too much too handle

Balloons

When it was not safe
to stay on the ground
Or when things were too painful
I always had my dreams

They were my balloons
I grasped for them
And they let me go up,

She Makes The Magic

And there she goes again
She skates over ice
Her cheeks glow
Her hair waves in the wind

There is music in her heart
And she dances and glides
There is only the now
And the rest she can forget
She is free
and feels so much alive
and in love

She is the only one left

And it is all hers
Under the nightly sky
She makes the magic
While the full moon shines on her

The Burden Of Guilt And Shame

Guilt and shame
are the dirt in the waters of emotions
They are the burden on your shoulders
The vultures in the sky that
chase you and prevent you to fly
And that keep you tied
to your thoughts

The days of Christmas
have never been light for me
They used to be dark and heavy
With the burden of guilt and shame
pushing me to my knees

A little girl that was told that she was bad
That she had better not be born
That all the bad things that happened, were her fault
And for that,
she needed to be punished and beaten

And then, especially at Christmas
and on New Years Eve
I spent hours and hours
to name all the bad things they said I had done
And asked for each thing for forgiveness
Sorry that I had made my mother sick
Sorry that because of me my father needed to beat my mother
Sorry that I breathed
Sorry that I was born
And sorry, oh so sorry for who I was,
for all what I had said, sorry for me

I hoped for the mercy of Christmas
I hoped for the start of the New Year
that could clear my burden
of guilt and shame
But it somehow never worked
As there were always new things
for which I could be blamed

And even if they didn’t blame me
I then blamed myself
For years and years I carried
too much responsibility
As I felt guilty and ashamed of
all the problems in the world

Guilt and shame are not authentic emotions
that flow from the deeper well within
But they are mind- emotions
Created in the head space
by judgemental thoughts
that stem from blame

If you want to live from a place
of love
Tap into the deeper well within
Let go of the burden of guilt,
shame and blame
Clear the dirt on the surface of the waters
And set your heart free

The Longest, Brightest Night

And in a night in which
big waves of panic hit the shore
and make me gasp for breath
As I looked for you in my dreams
but could only find chasing thoughts
and empty nightmares
It is the moon that shines
full and round

And after the shortest, darkest day
She makes of the longest night
the brightest
As if she’d like to say:
‘My dear, please do not fear
Even if the night seems long and endless
I still reflect the light of my sun
And although you cannot see him
your beloved is with you
in the light within’

She Has A Gift

She has a gift
She can see people into the soul
She can feel their energy,
see certain images
And then she knows things
she is not supposed to know

Already when she was a little girl
She had the eyes to see beyond veils
She could quietly observe from her corner
And then tell exactly what was going on
But what wasn’t said in words

But the adults didn’t like her gift
It scared them, it upset them
As they tried to hide things

They denied, called her crazy
And beat her a lot for her sensitivity
Though deep down she knew,
Her sharp inner eyes had seen the truth
As energy can never lie

She learned that reality is confusing
And in order to be accepted and loved
She needed to close herself off
and to hide her intuition
She imprisoned herself
Her mind took over
And she rationalized her gift away

Until one day she met her true love
And that opened her heart
She could break through her own bars
She could embrace her gift
As it is part of her soul

And now she uses it
for herself, for writing
and for helping other people

The Chocolate Girl

When I write, I need to eat chocolate
Where love is my spiritual fuel,
Chocolate fuels me earthy

Brown or white or heavy dark
It all blissfully explodes in my mouth
And then lands in my stomach

It’s the chocolate that keeps me going
When my body has a hard time
to keep up with all the inspiration
that comes to my mind
When my heart wants to fly too much
It’s the chocolate that keeps me grounded

Sometimes it’s like
I am of chocolate myself
When your tongue
touches me, I melt
And I am earthy
and heavenly tasty

We shine our light

It was often on evenings that we met
When songs were sung, music was played
In the intimacy of the night
That made the lights in our eyes
shine even brighter
when they connected

And then later we met in letters
in the intimacy of covered, fervent words
That always seemed to long for more
Dictated by greedy eyes and greedy hands
But often didn’t say what they wanted
to say or wanted to ask for

How those evenings long to be filled
with meeting eyes again
And how those letters long to be written
by hearts meeting in uncovered, fervent words
