Making Peace With The Raven

The raven that once came to ambush her,
cawing his threatening words
that made her cower in fear
every night
as she continued to hear his echo,
comes to her again this morning
this time by daylight

And she sees that he just played his role in the story
And now that the story is closed,
he is back a bird
That caws the whole morning at her
and instead of threatening,
He reminds her not to believe all the stories
but to listen
to the magic of life and of her own heart

Rewriting Warmond

Some memories are happy beacons
that light up when you look back
at the timeline you have walked
Where other memories are sharp pins
along the road that mark painful spots

Two years ago a story
has been played out
in a small Dutch town called Warmond
A lot can be said about it,
And different versions of the story
have been told

She takes the book of love
of her and her beloved,
tears out the old stories
And writes it anew
The story of Warmond
to find its beauty in its deeper truth….

The evening had been confusing
An undertow of strong emotions
had been exchanged between us
That didn’t match
with what we said on the surface
The tides pulled us back
from each other
I was in a sea of fear
And tried to swim back to your shore
Until the waves were too high and too strong
And I let myself float away

We said goodbye
I took my coat and left
I drove away in my car
Until my heart started
to scream at me
As it wanted to free itself
from behind its self-built walls
and wanted to tell you
its deeper truth

I turned my car
Ebb turned into flow
The waves that before
had pulled me away
Now pushed me back
to you

I was afraid I was too late
And you had already left
So I jumped from my car
and ran towards the venue
At that moment you came out
The waters of my heart
broke through the dam
I told you ‘I love you’

You took me in your arms
Your waters broke through
From your heart, from your eyes
We both cried, we smiled
You told me you love me too
We kissed, we touched
Our arms bridged the distance
And turned cold into warmth
in Warmond

I took you with me in my car
We drove under the moon and stars
The world could drown
But from that night on
We had our own ship
and no tide, no wave
could ever separate us

Heartbreaking

There is always the whisper inside
that says ‘I miss you’
I try to cover it with optimistic poetry
But sometimes,
it is a heartbreaking scream
That, with all its force,
breaks through the ceiling
And leaves me wretched
among shattered pieces of
heart and words

Our Sacred Space

And I keep our sacred space clean
and don’t let anything other than
the two of us come in
I close the curtains
I light up the candles
And dress up for you
A fresh rose in my hair

I’ll see you here
in our sacred space
in which we meet
in visions and in dreams
We only need to go
through the portal of
the connection
between our hearts
To have our own reality

You’re like the most beautiful painting
that I keep looking at
The pure river of your heart
that flows through a breathtaking landscape

I look from different angles,
see so much perspective
and keep discovering new things
I see the whole as well as every detail
All the bright shining colours
Even the shadows complement

In the world’s museum you are treasured
Your beauty for everyone to see
Though only my eyes recognize
the true depths

Before You Take Off

My beautiful bird,
Standing at the waterside
Do you long for the land overseas
There where she is

Do you dream
of the shore far away,
That yet feels so close,
as your heart flew ahead
and is already there
with her

Before you take off
to follow your heart
You take a pause
There is a lot going on
in your mind
You know,
first you need to say a farewell
and close out and let go of the old
before you can go up and fly

You take a few deep breaths
to make yourself ready
Just a few more moments
that in the end will mean nothing
in the light of the shore of infinite love
that patiently waits you

And even after all,
The dark clouds that pressed heavily
The raven that cawed through blood and bones
Words that were thrown like sharp arrows
Holes in the road that made her fall deep
Threats that came from her own thoughts
and tried to pull her off the path

But still, even after all,
she dances her way through the woods
And the flower of love in her heart
blossoms like never before

Those mountains that have arisen
between us
and that block our sight
And make thoughts and feet
believe we need to climb
Let’s change perspective
and rise above
To see things from the higher
With the spiritual eyes
of the sun:

Here we stand in front of each other
And there is this luggage between us
Weight that we took on our shoulders
Experiences that hurt our hearts
and associated bitter pain
with the sweet taste of love
Suitcases that we packed
in this lifetime and far beyond

We unpack the stories,
unpack our emotions, our wounds
We leave behind
the old luggage
so that our arms will be free
to receive each other
and we travel light
further on our journey of love

Returning To Eden

Let’s reset the world
and start all over
Let’s make it a paradise
in which people love each other
and live happily and peaceful
together with animals,
trees and plants
A world without separation,
No duality of right and wrong

And we, my love, will be
Adam and Eve
and we will be again
naked, open and innocent
to each other
returning to Eden,
to our garden of love

How much can a heart take
How far do I still need to walk
On this journey that seems
endless towards our horizon

there are new obstacles,
triggering winds of
emotional turmoil,
that want to blow me

around the corner
And then my feet

and the unknown shore

The Key To Your Heart

I found the key to your heart
to open the iron gate in the wall
You thought it was lost,
You were blue and alone forever
And no one could ever come in
No wrecking ball that could break it

But I didn’t need to use any force
because to unlock the door
I needed to love you
so truly and unconditionally,
that the iron melted and opened itself

The Deeper Truth

And in my head
so many dark clouds pass by
A thunderstorm of our past
Its lightning strikes me
and cuts my heart
once again into pieces

And while I crawl over the floor
to pick up and put back
all those scattered pieces,
I use love and compassion
as soothing glue
to make my heart whole again

I chase away the dark clouds
As they are just stories
of the past
And could only burst
into thunderstorm and lightning,
because I started to believe in them
Instead of in the deeper truth
that shines through
from the sunny place of our hearts
