Sometimes it’s like
my heart has its own life
No matter what my mind
fears or says
No matter the pouring rain outside
and how dark and lonely the night
it keeps burning, keeps strongly beating
It keeps telling me of the love
between me and you

At night I lie alone
in my bed and listen
to the pouring rain outside
I wonder,
are these the tears
the heavens cry for us
for they know
how much we’d like to sleep now
in each other’s arms

Even when on a map
they placed us both
on different continents
they drew an ocean
between us
and depicted it
with a scale
of thousands of miles,
we know that
on the map of our soul
we don’t need to travel
for we’re located
in each other’s heart

And when the room is dark
and curtains close off the window
there’s always a little crack to find
for the morning light to come in

Even when the mind is dark
and aches and a million thoughts
block the heart
there’s always a spot to find
for you, for love to come in

Just like the new moon
that is invisible
the light of new beginnings
hides itself behind
the dark

And I smile through the body aches,
the tiredness,
through the waves of sadness
the lies, the chaos,
the turmoil in the world
through time and distance
For regardless of the weather
there’s always an inner smile
to find in loving you

I take a paintbrush
and bring some colours
to your black and white world
Some green grass in your garden
some flowers, wild roses
blue skies, butterflies
a bright sun, a rainbow

And then, my man
my lips the paintbrush
In your true colours
I kiss you back to life

And we float in the river
and do not hold on
to any rock no more
our likes, our dislikes
our old ways, our patterns
we just let them go
as we flow together
bonded by the life line
between our hearts
save forever
in the waters of the universe,
the stream of love

Inspire, create, dream
courage, trust, truth, faith
surrender, compassion
gratitude, poetry,
dance, sing, laughter,
strength, joy, play
you and me
these are the ingredients
of our love

I will nurture you with my poems
with words that kiss you gently
on your lips
with a heart, with arms that reach
across the ocean to hold you
and put your heavy head against
my chest
with thoughts that surround
and set you in light and love

mind control
is to free your heart

And for a moment I shake off
all the things I need to do today,
the messages that wait for a reply
my worries, my nightly fears
that still tremble in me
my self-doubts, my thoughts
just to feel love
and dance together with you
inside my heart

Let’s fall into each other
in the depth of the soul
the depth of who we are
burning with the eternal
flame of passion
more and more into place
deeper and deeper in love

And when I see you
in your world in black and white
and look into your eyes
it’s like I look into a mirror
and see myself
see a well of sadness
All those tears we’ve cried
my love, one day
the well will dry up
and then we’ll only cry
tears of joy together

The September morning sun
shines brightly on me
and makes my world
a colourful painting
to remind me that even though
nights can be dark,
days can be rainy and grey
and the Dutch summer
has been painfully missing you,
There are magical ways
in which heaven’s light
can do its work,
use its paintbrush
and can shine its art through

Longing reaches
its arms out
And I seek in vain
a sign in the sky
a wave in the ocean
a song in the air

I seek a trace of you
in my tears
my memories for an anchor
my destiny with you
in the lines of my hands

But then I close my eyes
and seek myself within
to find you there
with me

Sometimes you are
as fleeting as the wind
you come and go
you touch you disappear

Do you chase your dreams
or do your shadows chase you

As you always wander and seek
ground underneath your feet
a home for your heart

And I open for you
so you can land in me

uncertain,
worry about the future
and doubt
what’s ahead
whereas in the now
love just knows

Tears of sadness
They all spring
from the same source
of loving you

No cloud outside
that can cast
a shadow or can dim
our sun
for you and me
we always
have the light,
we have the love
within

The moon shines so full
and so bright
only because
up in the sky
what we cannot see
here down on the earth
she is together
with the sun
her beloved
he lightens her up
so always together
they shine

to make a beautiful
symphony for you
in the morning

My body with yours
Let our arms, our legs,

and watch the moon glow
full of desire, full of hope
How infinite the universe is
just like our love
that reaches further
than the eyes can see
so at the utmost reach
of sight
the heart takes over
