Is it the word commitment
that scares you?
A thought that ties you?
But my love, our hearts are
already fully committed
to each other ever since
As they beat in harmony
and are bonded in love
Like our footsteps are committed
to the earth by gravity
The way our eyes locked
and married us
The way our arms entwined
and united us
What belongs that commits
It’s only your mind
that is scared
to commit itself to your heart
